from the date of your arrival in the Colony;

and that, if it is established to the Batis-

faction of the Governor that you are not

qualified for efficient service there the

Governor, subject to the confirmation of

the Secretary of State, will have full power

to cancel your appointment at any time within the said five years without giving you any

further compensation than a passure huck to

England, which will be grunted only if the

Governor is satisfied that you have, by

your good conduct, doserved it. If not

previously terminated, the appointment will

couse at the end of the said five yours,

unless it be expressly continued. If it is

continued you. will be placed on the pension-

able establishment of the Colony and your

salary will be raised to £150 a year on your

completing six years service dating from your

arrival in Hong Kong.
